Reutech (Fuchs) - reaching out to our students!

October 26th, 2016

On 27 May 2016, the students and staff of Reunert College undertook a company visit to Fuchs Electronics. They were able to experience first-hand the operations of the organisation by means of a guided tour.

The visit started off with an overview presentation by Mr Mike Tucker (Managing Director), a motivational talk by Mr Sanjay Dhani (Operations Executive) as well as a presentation on safety issues within the workplace (Mr Hendrik Potgieter). A guided tour of the different departments and their operations followed. Students were encouraged to ask questions within each department and got a good idea of the operations within the department. Students were able to interact with management and employees from the different departments during a lunch arranged by Fuchs. Many questions were asked and positive relations were formed by all involved. The visit added great value to the learning of the students, as they gained new insights into the operations of an organisation. The visit enhanced the experience of the Career Day offered by the College on May 6 2016. During this day students were exposed to different tertiary institutions and careers.

Reutech (Fuchs) undertook the huge task of upgrading the Alrode campus. New flooring, new classroom furniture, a state of the art new audio-visual system and the painting of the whole campus was the order of the day. This was a huge financial input by Fuchs into the College and the impact on our teaching was seen immediately. It once again instilled the goodwill Fuchs has always displayed towards the College.

Apart from the financial input into the Alrode Campus and the educational company visit, Fuchs extended another hand...the joining of hands between the staff of Fuchs and our students. During our annual volleyball event, the Fuchs employees challenged the Alrode students to a volleyball match. Fun was had by all, but eventually the youngsters of the College were named the Champs (even though they were given a good run for their money)! Thank you Fuchs for your investment in us....both financially and personally!
